The ALMA Spectroscopic Survey in the Hubble Ultra Deep Field (ASPECS)

ASPECS

I am Co-PI of The ALMA Spectroscopic Survey (together with Drs. Chris Carilli, Manuel Aravena, and Roberto Decarli) in the Hubble Ultra Deep Field (ASPECS), a 3D survey of gas and dust in distant galaxies. It focuses on the best-studied cosmological deep field, the iconic Hubble Ultra Deep Field.

LESS – LABOCA ECDFS Submm Survey (LESS) | with ALMA: ALESS

(A)LESS

I am Co-PI (together with Prof. Ian Smail and Dr. Axel Weiss) of the LABOCA ECDFS Submm Survey (LESS), an extragalactic submillimetre survey using the LABOCA Camera on the 12m APEX Telescope. This large program has been the basis for extensive ALMA follow-up (ALESS).

Pan-STARRS1 telescope

High-z quasar search

I was the PI of the high-z quasar search using the Pan-STARRS1 telescope. This survey has led to the discovery of more than a hundred quasars at redshifts > 6, less than 1 Gyr after the Big Bang. This survey was the foundation of numerous multi-wavelength follow-up studies, from the X-rays to the radio regime.

MeerKAT LADUMA

MeerKAT LADUMA

I am Co-I on LADUMA, which will be the deepest neutral hydrogen survey to date. It will use more than 2000 hours to observe a single pointing encompassing the Extended Chandra Deep Field South (ECDF-S) with the aim to observe neutral hydrogen in galaxies out to redshifts z=1.

The HI Nearby Galaxy Survey | THINGS

THINGS

I am the PI of THINGS, The HI Nearby Galaxy Survey, one of the largest programs undertaken at the NRAO Very Large Array (VLA) to perform 21cm HI observations of a large sample of nearby galaxies.

HERACLES: The HERA CO-Line Extragalactic Survey.

HERACLES

I am Co-PI (together with Prof. Adam Leroy) of HERACLES: The IRAM 30m HERA CO-Line Extragalactic Survey. This IRAM large program used the IRAM 30-m telescope to produce sensitive CO emission maps of 48 nearby galaxies.

The KINGFISH project (Key Insights on Nearby Galaxies: a Far-Infrared Survey with Herschel)

Kingfish

I am Co-I on the KINGFISH project (Key Insights on Nearby Galaxies: a Far-Infrared Survey with Herschel), an imaging and spectroscopic survey of 61 nearby (D < 30 Mpc) galaxies, chosen to cover a wide range of galaxy properties and local interstellar medium (ISM) environments found in the nearby Universe.

The Spitzer Nearby Galaxy Survey | SINGS

SINGS

I am Co-I of SINGS, the Spitzer Nearby Galaxy Survey, a comprehensive infrared imaging and spectroscopic survey of 75 nearby galaxies. Its primary goal has been to characterize the infrared emission of galaxies and their principal infrared-emitting components, across a broad range of galaxy properties and star formation environments.

MHONGOOSE (MeerKAT Observations of Nearby Galactic Objects - Observing Southern Emitters)

Monghoose

I am Co-I on MHONGOOSE (MeerKAT Observations of Nearby Galactic Objects - Observing Southern Emitters), a MeerKAT Large Survey Project to do extremely sensitive observations of the neutral hydrogen distribution in a sample of 30 nearby galaxies within 20 Mpc.
