THOR-GC: An extension of THOR to the Galactic Center

What are the dynamics, properties and star formation of the molecular clouds in the innermost regions of our Galaxy? Based on the success of the THOR survey we extended THOR to the Galactic center in HI, four OH, 12 radio recombination lines as well as the L-band continuum between 1-2 GHz in full polarization, to study the interstellar medium (ISM) and star formation in the extreme conditions of the Galactic Center. With a combination of D- and C-configurations of the Karl G. Jansky Very Large Array (VLA) we will obtain HI maps at high angular resolution (<73”) closer to angular resolutions of Galactic plane surveys of molecular gas tracers and at the same time covering larger-scale emission. Tracing the atomic, molecular and ionized gas components of the ISM, these multi-line and continuum observations will allow us to address the dynamics of atomic and molecular gas in the Galactic Center. I will show a survey outline and initial views on the data, as well as results from related projects.
