Accommodation
The workshop will take place at Schloss Ringberg,
the Max Planck Society's conference site overlooking Lake Tegernsee in the
foothills of the Bavarian alps, about an hour from Munich.
The single flat rate fee for the conference which includes accommodation and all meals is 126,56 Euro/night/person/full board.
The fee, along with any additional costs (eg. for drinks) should be paid at the end of the stay.
All major credit cards and cash (in Euros) will be accepted.
Breakfasts, lunches and dinners will be provided for all attendees starting with lunch on Monday 27 February
(breakfast only for people arriving on Sunday) and ending with lunch on Friday 3 March.
Thus, we anticipate that most attendees will arrive on the morning of 27 February and will leave after lunch on 3 March.
(The meeting itself will begin on Monday at 11:00 and will end on Friday at 12:30).
Arrival and check in at Ringberg on Sunday is possible from 4 PM but strictly *no later*
than 10 PM and no dinner will be available on Sunday.
The rate for this extra night is 59,92 Euro/night/person and in addition breakfast on Monday morning is 10,71 Euro/person.
Travel
We recommend arriving at Ringberg by train on the morning of 27 February.
If you plan to arrive in Munich on 26 February, we suggest that you take a hotel room in Munich and travel on to Tegernsee
the next morning. A list of recommended hotels near to the airport and near to the main station is provided below.
There are regular direct train services that connect Munich airport with Munich main station, journey time is approximately
45 minutes. There are hourly trains direct from Munich main station to Tegernsee, journey time is approximately 1 hour;
it is then a short taxi ride (20-30 minutes) from Tegernsee station to the castle.
On the arrival and departure days, we plan to provide shared taxis between Ringberg Castle and Tegernsee train station.
Train schedules can be checked and tickets bought in advance via the Deutsche Bahn website (site in English). When searching for times and tickets you will need to search for "Munich Airport T" for the airport and "Tegernsee" for Tegernsee. (If you break your journey at Munich main station, search for "Munich (München)".)
If you are planning to reach Ringberg with your own car be aware that you have to be equipped with
snow chains.
