Identifying Giant Molecular Filaments from SEDIGISM Survey

Recent studies of the infrared dark clouds of the Milky Way have revealed the presence of filamentary clouds extending up to 100 pc and beyond which are known as the Giant Molecular Filaments (GMFs). Velocity data of a few of these GMFs suggest their close association with the spiral arms of the Galaxy that are known as Bones of the Milky Way that could trace the molecular skeleton of our Galaxy. On the other hand, some of the GMFs are likely to be spurs/feathers emanating from the spiral arms or inter arms clouds. These Bones/spurs can be used discern the large scale structure of the Milky Way. Using data from SEDIGISM CO survey, we attempt to identify filamentary structures that are potential Bones/spur candidates.
