Interstellar magnetic field around giant protostellar jets

We present optical polarimetry around giant protostellar jets. We cover large areas, of around 500 square arcmin, in the direction of five jets containing the following Herbig-Haro objects: HH 46, HH 90, HH 160, HH280, and HH 355. These data are used to map the interstellar magnetic field and to estimate its average direction and dispersion. Our aim is to identify changes in the magnetic field structure caused by those jets. There is evidence of such changes in the HH 90 region. These results are discussed in the context of jets as a possible source of turbulence in the interstellar medium.
