Molecular Clouds: Basic Properties and Stellar Production

| After an overview of methods used to trace molecular clouds, I will describe results of surveys of the Milky Way. We will discuss the definitions for clouds, clumps, and cores, and their properties. The processes that determine the microscopic state (temperatures, densities, etc.) will be summarized. The star formation rates and modes will be discussed, followed by a list of open questions. | |
