The core mass function in massive star forming regions as observed with Herschel

Stephan M. Birkmann
ESA/ESTEC, Noordwijk, Netherlands
We will present the core mass function of high mass star forming regions observed with Herschel/PACS/Spire. The high angular resolution of Herschel allows us to dissect even distant regions, while the unprecedented wavelength coverage is the key to determine the temperature of individual cores and derive reliable masses. The results will be compared with theoretical core mass functions derived from models.
