Depletion and Deuteration in Prestellar Cores

I will present recent results from simulations of the chemistry of N-containing compounds in the collapse of a prestellar core. These simulations aim at reproducing observed abundances of species such as NH3 and its deuterated counterparts taking into account element depletion in a model of a core collapsing on approximately a free--fall time. A special role is played by NO which is an important intermediate in the N-chemistry and I will also present recent IRAM 30-m determinations of the NO abundance in the cores L1544 and L183.
