Numerical Simulations and the initial conditions for star formation

Numerical simulations have provided a useful too to explore the physics of star formation. Unfortunately they are dependent on the initial conditions used and the physics included in the simulations. In this presentation I will explore the importance of these assumptions and how they affect the final results, such as the IMF, stellar density and star formation efficiency. In order to be be fully trustworthy, simulations of star formation either need to have the exact initial conditions present in molecular clouds, which is unlikely, or they need to model the initial formation process.
