My name is Nhut Truong, I'm currently a postdoctoral researcher working in the Galaxies and Cosmology Research Group, at Max Planck Institute for Astronomy (MPIA, Heidelberg). I’m a theoretical astrophysicist using cosmological simulations to study galaxy formation and evolution. I’m also working closely with X-ray observers in CGM and ICM communities.

I did my PhD at University of Rome "Tor Vergata" (Rome, Italy). You can see my full CV here.

Research Interest

My researches focus on exploiting state-of-the-art cosmological simulations (e.g. IllustrisTNG, EAGLE) to study the formation and evolution of galaxies and clusters of galaxies. Of particular interest, I'm using cosmological simulations to explore the effect of feedback driven by super-massive black hole (SMBH) on hot atmospheres ranging from hot inter-stellar (ISM), circum-galactic (CGM), to intra-cluster media (ICM). Such SMBH-driven feedback is considered to play essential role in not only shaping thermodynamical & chemical properties of galaxies but also in quenching their star formation. My works mainly focus on modelling mock X-ray observations of simulated galaxies. The goal of my researches is twofold: i) to constrain current simulation models of SMBH-driven feedback using recent X-ray observations, and ii) to establish testable predictions that are within the reach of current or incoming X-ray missions. Recently, I have been involving in an observational project to help interpret the eROSITA observations of CGM X-ray emission.

Publications

I have published 11 papers: 5 first-author, 1 second-author, and 5 co-author. Total citations: 204. H-index: 8.
