Feedback from HII Regions - Spatially Resolved Radio Recombination Line Analysis from the THOR Survey of the Milky Way

Michael Rugel

How does feedback from HII regions influences the parent molecular clouds? In order to answer this question, I investigate spatially resolved emission of Radio Recombination Lines (RRLs) from THOR, the HI, OH and RRL survey of the Milky Way, between 1 and 2 GHz in the star-forming complexes W49 and W51. To study how feedback affects the gas in its surroundings, we look for velocity shifts between RRL and literature 13CO emission (GRS survey) and for spatial variations of the kinematics of 13CO lines. We further compare radii and expansion velocities from HII regions to literature feedback models of stellar clusters. This will distinguish the dominating type of feedback (stellar winds or radiation) and unveil the evolution history of the cloud.
