AMR Radiation hydrodynamics for protostellar collapse calculations

Grey flux limited diffusion approximation for radiation (magneto)hydrodynamics is nowadays one of the best compromise to account for radiative transfer in 3D protostellar collapse calculations. I will present our implementation of the diffusion equation for the radiative transfer in the AMR-MHD code RAMSES. Before using diffusion approximation in 3D calculations, we first investigated the impact of the diffusion model on the first core signatures in comparison with more advanced model for radiative transfer. We study the resolution of the radiative structure (temperature spike, entropy deposit) within the radiative shock that takes place at the accretion process. Thanks to 1D calculations using both the M1 and the diffusion approximation, we checked that the latter approximation give sufficiently accurate results in order to be used in 3D calculations.
