Abstract:
We have studied the CO emission from the protoplanetary disk HD100546, taken with CRIRES at the VLT. We compare the observed CO ro-vib emission to modelled emission using the thermo-chemical disk code ProDiMo (Woitke, Kamp, Thi, 2009), recently expanded with a large CO model molecule and UV fluorescence pumping (W. F. Thi et al. 2012). We investigate variations in the line profile shapes and line strengths with changing position angles. With our sophisticated modelling approach, we test whether the line profile shape variations are due to disk asymmetries or to the observational setup. Through comparison observational data and model we aim to explore how the geometry of the disk can be evaluated from CO ro-vibrational emission and how well we understand the behaviour of these transitions.
