I will illustrate the early results from the ALMAGAL Large Project for more than 1000 dense Galactic clumps in terms of fragmentation statistics and cores mass distribution as a function of environment, physical properties of the hosting clump and evolution. While this body of evidence is in favour of very dynamical fragmentation and accretion scenarios as opposed to monolithic collapse solutions, the role of the different physical agents at work in this process is still far from understood. I will also illustrate plans for follow-ups that we are pursuing in the ALMAGAL collaboration.
