Dissertation in astronomy at the Landessternwarte Heidelberg (April 1994). May 1994 - Jun 1996 postdoc at Lund Observatory, Lund, Sweden. Aug 1996 - Apr 1997 research fellow at the SFB 328 (Landessternwarte) and the Max Planck Institute for Radioastronomy, Bonn, Germany. May 1997 - Dec 2001 at the Astrophysikalisches Institut Potsdam (AIP), Potsdam, Germany, associated with the MHD group at the AIP.
