Timetable

When I travelled the line in November 1995, they worked only the section from El Maiten to Esquel. Trains where running once a week in each direction. One train would leave El Maiten on 15:00 on tuesday, the return journey left Esquel on thursday at 11:00. Scheduled journey time was 5:30 hours, but the 165 km of track took us around 8 hours! Never mind, much of the delay was due to the frequent photo stops and "special events", like running up and down a length of track through a canyon for the guys with the video cameras...

It appears that now in 2005, trains are not as frequent any more - but there are tourist voyages out of Esquel. The current timetable can be found on Patagoniaexpress.com. For those used to this site, I'm linking their timetable image below - without any responsibility etc.:
