My Research

Galactic Archaeology with Chemodynamics and Stellar Spectroscopy

I am an observational astronomer who analyses high-resolution spectra of a large number of stars that have been observed by the GALAH survey in order to estimate chemical composition of these stars and ultimitly dwar conclusions about the building history of our own Galaxy, the Milky Way. By combining the chemical composition of these stars with dynamic information from the Gaia satellite as well as stellar ages, we can perform various kinds of chemical tagging as well as learn something about the chemical and dynamical (=chemodynamical) evolution of our Solar neighborhood as well as formation of the stellar disk and halo.

My Curriculum Vitae

I have come around in the world quite a bit, as you can read in my CV. During my education I have been to several places, including Jena (Germany), Uppsala (Sweden), and Heidelberg (Germany). Social activities and cumminity services have always been part of my live.

Work and life balance is important and because I like adventures and sports, my life is always balanced by running, cykling or watching sports. There is almost no sports which I do not like (try me!) and as I believe that you should be able to talk about non-scientific topics with collaborateurs, I am sure we can find something to talk about!

My scientific stops

Since 2015 PhD Studies at the Heidelberg Graduate School of Fundamental Physics (Ruprecht-Karls-University Heidelberg) and the International Max Planck Research School for Astronomy and Cosmology in Heidelberg
2013-2015 Master of Science in Physics at the University of Jena including an ERASMUS exchange semester at Uppsala University
2010-2013 Bachelor of Science in Physics at the University of Jena

Outside of science

I am a great fan of running (My half marathon record is 1:55 and I am happy to run with you!) and playing soccer. Recently I also picked up on (road bicycle) racing.

In my free time I like to also watching sports (mostly soccer, American football, and I recently picked up on Rugby), movie, and TV series.

One of the most important parts of my life is music! Imagine traveling, working, or working out, or a good party withut music?!
