Acquisition Images

  • Always take acquisition images (both for the calibrator and the science source), especially for weak sources since it will allow you to
    • check the beam quality (beam A vs. beam B)
    • do a PSF fitting to the science acquisition image using the calibrator image. This can be useful to look for extended emission.
    • get an impression on the single-dish flux for sources where the single-dish spectra are too noisy to give useful information

MACAO

  • Moon distance: no definite answer how far away moon must be, depends on conditions, brightness of guiding star and distance of star from source (when offset guiding). Information (according to Rivi): a 14 deg distant V=16.5 star at full moon is probably impossible, 30 deg distance is probably OK. But it hasn't been tested yet.
